Safe Ta Night: Comment prendre soin de son personnel ?

Harm reduction with festive audiences (consent, sexual health, drug use, etc.) can be useful for staff working at events/festivals, both in terms of feedback and in terms of identifying organisers' needs in this area. The aim of this conference is to open up a dialogue on the subject of consumption in the workplace, by looking at the problem from the point of view of training staff in the various risks inherent in their working environment, to staff turnover and budgetary constraints. The talk will be held in French.

How to Rethink the City: A Nightlife Emergency

A need for new festive spaces in Brussels?

In today's Brussels’ complex urban landscape, the city is facing pressing social and economic challenges that call for fresh perspectives on public & private space, especially regarding nightlife. In Brussels, the nighttime economy is experiencing an unprecedented crisis: festive spaces are dwindling, regulations are tightening, and both locals and visitors find their options for socializing increasingly limited. To address these issues, this talk explores how urban planning can evolve to sustain a vibrant and inclusive nightlife in Brussels, focusing on spatial distribution, promoters and public needs in terms of festive spaces, but also regulatory obstacles, and opportunities for diverse, well-distributed nighttime activities.

Safe Ta Night: Développer une boîte à outils commune pour la réduction des risques à Bruxelles

Aimed at Health Promotion actors, mainly in the party environment (sexual health, consent, auditory risks, consumption of products, etc.) and event organisers, the aim of the workshop will be to discuss the needs and good practices in order to bring them together in the form of a ‘toolbox’ on the various aspects linked to the risks inherent in party environments targeting the public. It will be organised in 2 parts: the first presenting tools and good practice, and the second on the creation of a toolbox. Join and share your structure’s experiences to nourish this general common toolbox. This workshop will be held in French.

Unlocking European Collaboration for Nightlife in Brussels

With nightlife across Europe facing challenges and transformations, collaboration between cities is becoming essential. As Brussels seeks to navigate the complexities of modern urban nightlife, this talk will focus on the benefits of collaborative efforts between European cities to support and innovate nightlife policies that are vibrant, sustainable, and community-minded. Although Brussels is known as an ultra-European city in terms of policies and initiatives, nightlife actors seem to not yet fully exploit these possibilities. Examples and insights about collaborative European projects in nightlife is a way to unlock these projects for Brussels nightlife structures.

Clubbing is Culture: Time for Real Political Support

Talk 1: Should clubbing be subsidised?

Talk 2: The rise of Open Airs: reclaiming public spaces through safe & festive gathering

Clubbing is more than just nightlife—it’s a cultural movement, a source of creativity, and a driver of social connection that enriches cities and communities. As Brussels' clubbing was recognized as intangible heritage by our Region, and when we see a broad part of cultural structures being supported by public fundings, we legitimately can question the lack of funding, recognition and valuation from policymakers for clubbing, structurally speaking. This two-part talk will delve into the urgent need for political support and public funding for club culture, as well as the rising popularity of Open Air events as a means of reclaiming public spaces for safe and inclusive social gatherings.

Noise pollution: The #1 enemy of clubbing

Noise complaints are becoming a make-or-break issue for nightlife in Brussels, with clubs facing increasing pressure—and even the threat of closure—due to policies and regulations that prioritize residents’ concerns over the survival of nightlife venues. There is an urgent need for Brussels to find a balanced approach that acknowledges both the cultural importance of clubbing and the rights of neighbors in nightlife districts. With 5 major clubs in Brussels in danger of closure in the next months, Brussels by Night is working actively politically, but we still need to address this issue publicly, as we do in this talk.

Safe Ta Night: Le Care en milieu festif : une approche collaborative entre associations, organisateurs et décideurs

This talk will look at the importance of collaboration between associations and organisations organising festive events, and the role of the public authorities in funding these initiatives.
Our first aim is to raise awareness of the costs of the field work carried out by harm reduction associations and the positive aspects of long-term collaboration, by presenting an example of co-intervention, followed by a discussion between event organisers to explain/witness what they have already put in place at their events and the resulting budgetary costs, while at the same time calling on the subsidising authorities. This talk will be held in French.

Precarity in Nightlife

Talk 1: Rising costs: an impossible challenge?

Talk 2: How to react to the audience behaviour shift?

Nightlife faces growing financial pressures, with rising costs—from rent to utilities and security—threatening the survival of clubs and venues. Meanwhile, shifts in audience behavior and preferences are changing the landscape, with many attendees now seeking alternative experiences or more affordable options. How inflation, increasing operational expenses, and new regulatory demands are putting immense strain on nightlife venues and raising the question: Can clubs keep their doors open in the face of rising costs?
But also exploring changes in what audiences are looking for, from smaller gatherings to wellness-focused events, and how these shifts impact the traditional club scene.
This session invites venue owners, event organizers, and policymakers to collaborate on practical solutions, ensuring the survival and evolution of nightlife in the face of precarity.
